Supporting families in navigating the mental health system
As a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of experience in the mental health field, I'm dedicated to providing personalized support and guidance to help you and your loved ones navigate life's challenges. Whether you're seeking individual therapy or family consultations, I'm here to offer my expertise and compassionate approach to help you achieve your goals.
I got my start in the field 20 years ago as a clinical research assistant at Johns Hopkins University Department of Psychiatry. The passion that began there led to UC Berekely, where I obtained my MSW with a focus in Community Mental Health. Since graduating in 2010, I have worked at every level of care throughout Santa Clara County, including Medi-cal programs, private insurance programs, small non-profits and large hospitals. I launched Stanford Hospital's Pilot Program of a dedicated psychaitric team in the Emergency Department to address mental health needs and reduce wait times for inpatient hospitalization. During my time as a result of my knowledge of community resources, we were able to successfully discharge a high percentage of people to straight to intensive outpatient resources, and reduced wait times for those needing hospitalization to hours instead of days. I will bring that systems knowledge to you and your family.
While working at a local mental health program (La Selva Group based in Palo Alto), I led their family support group for four years. During that time I spoke with countless families who had to become de facto social workers in order to get their loved one the help they needed. When I asked why they had to do this, they reported while they could find a therapist for themselves or their loved one, no one was available to help them navigate the system. When I launched my private practice a few years later, I decided to help these families, to be the social worker they needed but could not find.
